non-Christian cultures celebrate
pagan rituals
unholy gestures to a
god of dust and unreal

For centuries they pass
The vanity on like
roots of a family tree
oral traditions
and worthless acts
while we sit around
a green pine tree
open ribbons and paper
stuffed with the merchandise
produced by elves and St. Nick
and agree how absurd Eastern religions are
over a glass of egg nog

Native American worship
Of Mother Earth
Is replaced by our turkey
and cranberry sauce
symbolizing the great god of the
pumpkin pie’s righteous triumph
over those foolish, satanic Indians

Rather than believe in
reincarnation, or Jihad loyalty
we plant plastic eggs
and smile as children
search for the Big Bunny’s
chocolate treasures
Glad we serve a God
who is plausible
and not following
ridiculous traditions and
rituals spanning centuries and
centuries straight to Hell
