TITLE: True Being By Deborah Adesanya 11/23/05 |
|
I wake when the world sleeps
I look around and wonder why
I compare myself to others and ask
Why do I wake when others sleep?
I try to turn over and fall once more
Deep into slumberness sleep
Seconds run by, minutes, hours and I am still alert
Why do I fight with my inner self that wants to wake?
I see pictures in my subconsciousness
Purple, black white and even indigo
I wander what makes me see then
I open my eyes and they fade away after a while
Then I marvel at what I can’t control in me
Because I’m awake when others sleep
It gives me time to think long and deep
I am different, different from the world
I know I don’t really belong here
It’s like I’m visiting for the first time
And I don’t have a clue about what’s going on
So I contact my inner-self
My true being, and ask
Ring, ring..., the phone goes off, i lose contact
I know it is not for me but I stop and listen
No one picks it up, I am hesitant
Wait a little while longer, 1sec, 2 secs....
I get off the bed and walk downstairs
It’s not mine
Am I sad, no
Did I hope it was mine....Yes
From who I don’t know
But I still wish it was mine
From someone else who woke when the world slept
Who thought of things when the moon was out and the sun went to bed
Who thought of me when silence attacked
From all corners of where he laid
I can’t keep night dreaming but not sleeping
So I go back to my inner self peaceful, loving
It feels so good to be at peace with oneself
I talk to him, for He is in me
Not someone, but He who is greater than the world
But He is my friend
He listens and smiles when I speak
He helps me when it’s getting too hard for me
He’s not ashamed to cry with me when I am sad
He comforts me when I am lonely
He understands my every situation
He doesn’t ask for what I can’t give
He gives me more than I ever wanted
He brings me joy when there is none in this world
He fills me with laughter when I feel deflated
I’m at peace with Him
Because He loves me
He never ignores me when I talk
He never makes jest of me when I am serious
I talk to him when I’m alone
Even my lips move sometimes
If the world sees me
They’ll think I have gone nuts
But do I care, really No not one bit
Because to then I’m different
I have what not all people have
I have peace within myself
A time will come when someone like me
Who wakes when the world sleeps
Will come and together
We will be at peace with our friend ad King
Who is our peace.
