TITLE: What's the story? By vicki adams 11/02/05 |

It’s in your hands.
Will this drag on, for days or hours
Clawed back at the last minute
After wasted moments?
Or will you choose now?
This instant holds the key.
Don’t blame circumstance or surrounding
When you know the routine,
As you stand viewing a forked path:
Life or death
Blessings or curses.
I heard of your last triumph
After four days sitting in the dark
Pleased that you found the light.
Glad you got there eventually,
But why did you spend hours staring at the switch?
Flick back to the present
With its potential for disturbance
Careful consider the consequences
Of another journey of distraction.
You know I love you dearly
And that I catch you when you fall
But I want to show you,
It doesn’t have to be this way
If I guide your steps primarily.
Just a game, contained,
You think you can manage another round
Safe, a past master or pretence
In a comfortable costume
Will you wear it again?
Open your eyes to the reality
Can you afford another foray
A futile wander into self-focus?
What will the story be?
What’s your choice?
Behold I stand at the door and knock
Behold, I’m pointing out the options.
Which door are you going to open?
This could be a different tale,
Victory fixed, a stable state.
Not buffeted or swept away,
At mercy of the elements.
I won’t drag you along my path
Free will includes the choice to choose.
