A Foolish Love


I have lost a great love
One so patient yet so unkind
Like a woman now forsaken
My spirit is mostly grieved

I now stand alone refused
With the lies my heart is now made sad
How careless and cruel all this is
This unfaithful companion is no more

My heart runs here and then there
But it finds no rest in its weariness
It is now time to give it up
That which is already lost to me

Where Love is…It is made glorious
Make my heart to hear joy again
Make my heart to sing in gladness
I long now for only the best gift

For the only true Love that remains
I long for this gift with all my heart
My heart has a new argument
I desire only Him to consider me again

For if He find me…I have found life
I wish to fly as a cloud in the sky
To be raised to this lofty status
To move swiftly towards only Him

I have lost a great love
It was a foolish love
It was the love of myself
It was the love of pleasing myself

Let me go forward towards the Light
The light that will illuminate all my dark parts
Let me find that One great love
Let me tremble at only His voice
