TITLE: Sirens By Patrick McClure 06/02/05 |

-Sirens-
Fear, sirens
Gripping my heart
Alarming my nerves
Scared of the rain
I’m scared of the wind’s power
Quickly moving
Yelling aloud
Praying aloud
Scared for my family
I’m scared of the storm’s anger
Rushing hurriedly
Opening the latch
Throwing them in
Scared for our future
I’m scared of the tornado’s destruction
We huddle and shiver
Drenched in rain and soaked with fear
And the hours pass as we
Hope and pray that our lives will
Not be utterly destroyed by this
Tremendously violent and tumultuous
Storm
As the noise subsides
We peek outside
Only to find
That a baby elm has fallen
But the house stands firm and sound
