At my sisters house the cats come when I am on the computer – they want to be petted and scratched. They jump on the desk, walk in front of the monitor and tiptoe around the keyboard – they want attention.

Cats can’t comprehend what I am doing on the computer – there is no way they could ever understand what is being done – it’s beyond their ability. But they want to be near me.

They help me understand God - yes, cats help me see how things work with Him. Like cats, we can get close to Him, even be in His presence, but be clueless about what God is doing. The Most High works on a level we don’t begin to grasp.

The Eternal One is reaching out to corners of the universe influencing things we don’t understand in ways we can’t imagine, all from the throne of heaven. He’s got it covered, kind of like a human using a computer.

When I tear out the carpet to put down new flooring, the cats gather round to sniff the old pieces and observe – they are soo inquisitive. But they can’t figure out what is happening – it is beyond them.

That’s a lot how I am with God – I want so badly to know more – but have no idea. It can be taking place all around me, but I can’t connect the dots of what Jehovah is up to. I just have to wait and trust.

When I put up a barricade to keep them out, they are determined to sneak in the living room and investigate. But when the drum sander is turned on and the old flooring sanded, they are glad to be far away. The barricade was actually for their own good.

Do they ever wonder how the food “just happens” turn up in their bowls or how the cat-boxes manage to stay cleaned? Someone is taking care of them every day – so it is with us - God knows the hairs of our head.

Multi-tasking doesn’t begin to describe what God is doing. But being human and trying to understand the Creator, we can’t begin to fathom the strategy of goodness or how a crucifixion leads to victory.

But we can know this: God does understand, He’s on our side and God does love us, each and every one of us very much. And He’s got it covered.
