Man’s life is but a vapour,
A passing puff of air,
It lasts a fleeting moment,
Then it’s no longer there—
A flicker from a candle,
A brief unseen affair:
When faded from the limelight,
Who will his worth declare?

Let us not be conceited
With the grandeur of our fame,
Convinced of our importance,
Seeking power and acclaim—
Our light when burning brightest
Is a feeble candle flame,
A cold breeze blows upon it—
Death will worldly fame disdain!!

Let us hope in Christ Jesus,
In Whose hands are all our days,
Rejoicing in His mercy,
Assured of His saving grace:
If He’s our living Light source
Our flame will be ne’er erased;
Our hope is everlasting—
Hallelujah!! God be praised!!
