Sunday 5/24/09 Pastor Alex’s sermon: Worship-Present an Offering Romans 12:1-2. Rev. 4:11, Luke 22:42-45, Romans 5:8

People say they want to know God’s will for their life. We need to offer our body as a living sacrifice-as a form of Worship. We need to Present an Offering--ourselves to God. The church should be about Jesus and the world should see the church as that. We need to Worship God.
***Worship is MORE than going to church.
***Worship is MORE than singing to God.
***Worship is MORE than bowing down to God.
Worship should be what our life is centered around. We should ORBIT around worship like the planets orbit around the sun. Our planets are spouses, work, kids and they should orbit around worshipping God.

Whatever we orbit around is what our world is centered around. We need to ask ourselves what are we centered around and addicted to?
What motivates us the most?
What do we spend most of the time doing?
What do we spend most of our money on?
What do we value the most?

God wants to be the center of our lives. God wants to be the Worship center of our lives. When God becomes the center, our marriages, our work, our finances will be blessed and good and holy. God wants to be what we are Orbiting Around!!
The Heart of Worship is SURRENDERING all to God. We surrender our finances to God. We surrender our kids to God. We surrender our lives to God.

*Three Barriers to Surrendering to God:

1) Fear: perfect love casts our fear. Romans 5:8 Christ loved us enough to die for us.

2) Pride: we are control freaks and want to be in charge. Be like God. When we are in control, we are acting more like satan. God IS the Creator!! Rev.4:11 God created ALL! We didn’t come from a gob of gooo like the big bang theory says. The only sin that causes us separation from God is Pride. The Bible says if we confess our sins, He will forgive us. Pride won’t let us confess to God so we are not forgiven and are separate from God.

3) Confusion: we misunderstand the meaning of SURRENDER. It is not giving up our brain, not being lazy, not suppressing our personality. When we surrender to Got, He begins to live life thru our personality and we are set FREE!

Surrender is: obedience, looking at God’s Word and lining up to His way. We need to LET GO AND LET GOD!! If you are truly surrendered to God, it will show in your relationships.
Surrender is intense warfare against a self-centered nature. Its not all about us and sometimes we worship ourselves thinking we are the sun and all should orbit around us. This is NOT right!

The perfect example of surrender is when Jesus prayed to God. Luke 22:42-45 Jesus asked God if there was any other way besides the crucifixion to save mankind. Jesus then said if it was God’s will then he would obey. Victory comes thru surrender!!
Surrendered people are the people God uses! A Surrendered life is not the best way to live but the ONLY WAY TO LIVE!! God has all this stuff, systems and He has a way for things to operate. God’s way is the only way for things to operate right.

We need to Surrender to God’s Way! That’s the Heart of Worship. Romans 12:1-2 Present our bodies to God and let Him change the way we think. Then we will know God’s will for our life. Surrender is never a one-time deal. We have to surrender DAILY! Take up our cross daily. Then we will know the will of God in our life. We need to surrender all our fears, all our worries, all our finances…ALL needs to be surrendered to God DAILY! Then we have the VICTORY!!
