CAN I CALL GOD?

I was preparing to cook dinner when the telephone rang.

As I answered the phone I noticed my 4 year old, Cathy, watching and
listening intently to my conversation. My phone call was from a friend
and we shared and laughed for a short time and I hung up the phone.

Little Cathy looked up at me very seriously and asked "Mommy, does God
have a telephone?"

"Why do you ask, sweetheart?"

"Well, I heard you talking to your friend on the phone and I thought
if I called God he would send me a friend to talk to on the phone".
"Does God have a telephone?"

I lifted my little Cathy onto my lap as I sat down thinking how
can I explain this to this precious child.

"Cathy, God's phone is invisible so close your eyes and look inside
your heart. Do you see the telephone pad with the numbers and letters
on it?"

"Yes, Mommy, I see them, I see them."

"Cathy, do you remember how Daddy and I taught you to call 911 in case
of an emergency?"

"Yes, you told me to push the numbers 911 and that someone would answer
the phone and send help."

"Can you see the button with the "P" on it?"

"Yes, I see it."

"Alright, that "P" represents prayer and when you push that button it
connects to God's spirit and God answers the phone."

Cathy's eyes popped open with excitement and she jumped off my lap
running to her room shouting "I'm going to call God now!"

A few minutes later Cathy returned to the kitchen where I was and I
asked her if her call to God went through.

Cathy replied, "Mommy, Yes, God answered the phone and I asked him if
he would send me a friend to talk to and he did. My friend is also
invisible but I can see him and he told me he would always be with me
whenever I wanted to talk to him. My friend is so neat... I really do
like him.

"That's great, sweetheart...what is your friend's name?"

Very matter-of-factly Cathy replied "Jesus."

Through the threshing floor of a child's heart. Imagine how FW would be changed if articles such as this one were the standard by which they were "screened." The simplicity of our life in Him, by Him and through Him would be all that He means it to be if we'd just "pick up the phone." I loved this article! I'd say more, but I have to make a phone call!
