Where we find ourselves in today, may not be the place we desire for our lives but where we are Brothers and Sisters is the perfect place to begin our life’s journey. Our first step is to invite our unseen guide, Jesus for he alone has the accurate map for our journey. Courageously, with youthful zeal and basking in new life, we chart our course through murky, dark waters, displaying our ignorance by not depending on our guide f or we falsely believe that we are strong enough. Over the rough hills, down the meandering valley we go. After a while, the inordinate length of our struggles begin to question us and because our guide is unseen and we immature, it’s easy to lose courage and wonder if this journey was worth it in the first place..Any way, we trudge along, absorbing those painfully slow learning processes and life shaking lessons, letting go those toxic people, emotions and actions that we find strewn along our way, building nourishing people that come in handy in future. Sometimes we are stuck in the mud and rut of life and need a push from special souls that GOD had graciously placed at strategic points to give us direction and inspiration. At other times, we are knocked down flat-out on our backs. We stretch our tired, aching muscles and desire to rest just a little more on our laurels of spiritual comfort zone. For some reasons not understood, we forget “he that is in us” our present help at such times. On the cold floor, with fireflies mocking us, we see the clear azure blue skies of our vision- that GOD had implanted in our hearts. Being young and foolish we know not, neither do we understand and thus cannot exercise our spiritual senses to hear nor discern the leading of our eager guide. Because of his love, he sends a man of God to whisper `come on, get up you have what it takes, remember your reasons...’In a flash, we remember that our world needs us and lots depend on the treasures we have to give to the universe. These reasons help us to get back on our feet. Painfully, slowly and perhaps reluctantly but gradually we begin our climb hoping that our experiences will not be the same vicious cycle of defeat that we had experienced. Then the Spirit brings us the mentors and Pastors who teach us the word of GOD with more clarity. The Spirit opens up or minds like he did to the disciples on the road to EMMAUS after Jesus’ resurrection. We begin to see new light and a new sense of hope and urgency grips our trembling heart. We begin to long and to desire to do more for his kingdom. One
step a time, we inch further away from the norm and consciously begin to do the same things over and over and getting better at it –In the process. Suddenly one day, we make to look down and are filled with awe and wonder. How did we get here? ’ look at me’. Could this be true?’We are tempted to begin to compare ourselves with others, to be proud but the Spirit slowly prods-they is more room for growth. Having come thus far, today we can have kindred spirit and give succour to others more ignorant than we, those at the other end of the ladder. We are all ignorant but at different stages so we cannot boast for only our guide hold the key to wisdom which he richly bestows on the humble. We realise that this is the only step we have taken in a new level and that this journey never ends but we can be sure that though we are not the very best but we are not what we used to be. We are far better today, than if we had attempted nothing. We are in competition, only with ourselves, to be the best version of us. Love takes over, regulating our advance. As we yield more, we become more mature and stronger.
