WE NEED JESUS:

In Acts three we have the account of Peter and John going up to the temple to worship. Arriving there they were asked by a lame man for alms. Peter's response is given in verse 6, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk."

The man wasn't asking for Jesus, he was seeking money. He was looking to the things of this world for solutions to what God could do for him. Most sinners are not asking for Christ. In fact, most Christians do not think of Him first when they have a problem. We usually think in terms of the things of this world when we have difficulties. A better job, a new car, a nicer home, stylish clothes, more education; these are the types of solutions we generally consider. We often seek the same things in our denominations – a new church or school buildings, a new fund raising campaign, or a new method of evangelism. What the lame man really needed was Christ - he often received money, but it wasn't until he met Jesus that his life was changed. And what you and I really need today is Jesus Christ. We need a hungering and thirsting for His righteousness.
We need a burning desire to fulfill His will in our lives. We need a total surrender, and a willingness to spend the time necessary to find and know God for ourselves. This is our real need today.

Peter did not have silver or gold to give, and there are many things you and I do not have today. We will never be responsible for what we do not have. God doesn't expect the uneducated to do the work of the professor, or the poor to give as much as the rich. But we all have talents that we can use for the Master. He who used fishermen to turn the world upside down has some pretty
exciting things He would like to do in your life. He offers to take your life today and so arrange things that it will be an honor and a glory to His Name. He will give you the peace, the joy, - the happiness that comes from living for Christ. He offers to heal your spiritual and emotional problems.

We have many spiritual cripples around the church today - people who are looking for solutions in the things of this world. They are good folk, children of Abraham, but they have never realized their real need, that of spending time with the Master. We may have degrees, titles, positions and wealth, we may be community or church leaders, or we may be cripples, so to speak. But
without Christ we can do nothing. Until we spend time each day with God, hearing Him speak to us, our ability to fulfill the Master's desire in our life will be crippled. Until we daily eat spiritual food, we will never be spiritual people. What about it? Isn't it about time for us Christians to spend time with Jesus and “rise up and walk” for Him. There is so much He is waiting to
do through us.
