God always sees us as His precious gifts, priceless treasures in his Kingdom. Why does He see us this way? Because we are created in His image – and nothing could be more precious and special than to be created in the image of God Himself, the Lord of all creation!
This is why we must always keep in mind that He is always shaping us and conforming us to His character. He wants us to become more like Him in every way. God is the potter and we are the clay that He shapes to His own purposes, making us into worthy vessels to be filled with His Holy Spirit. When we submit and surrender our will to our Heavenly Father, He will shape and mold us according to His will and more closely to His image every day.
This growth and change as God molds us is a process that is on-going, so we do not need to be discouraged along the way. We can enjoy each step along the way. It’s okay to take pleasure in where we are on our walk with God while knowing that God is not finished with us yet. He is always in the process of changing us and taking us to where He wants us to be. Simply remember that He is always working on us, from the inside out, and take solace in the fact that we can love our God with all our hearts because He continues to make us better people even as he loves us where we are right now.
“The Lord said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
Exodus 4:11-12
How Does God Mold Me?
But how does God mold you into the person He wants you to be? How are we to recognize the Lord’s touch as He takes the unfinished clay of our lives and turns it into a beautiful, finished container for His Spirit? The simple answer is that God molds us every day, in every way.
Every contact you have with others impacts your life in some way, whether to teach you a lesson about God’s mercy and love, or to strengthen your humility and resolve. There is no relationship you have that isn’t part of God’s molding and shaping process in some way. Each person that touches your life leaves a mark on the pottery of your soul. If you would like to move closer to God and help Him in His desire to make you a worthy vessel, associate with other Christians, for they will also help God mold you and shape you through their example and Christian love.
God also shapes you through what you do. The more you act and live like a Christian, the more God will guide your footsteps in the right path. It is a natural progression that the more you do that is kind and right and good, the more you will desire to do these things. So look to God for His support and He will give it, and shape your heart to guide you in the path of His goals and hopes for you. Because He created you, He knows everything about you and will guide you in His ways.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
When I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
Were written in your book
Before one of them came to be.”
-Psalm 139:14-16
