We all hope to prosper and succeed in life, and many of us pray that God will lead us on the right path to prosperity and success. It’s wonderful to lay our requests at God’s feet and ask for His blessings, but we need to understand when we ask for these things that the world’s idea of prosperity is different from that of the Lord. Prosperity is much more than just the trappings of material success, and God grants us His blessings so that we are enriched in ways that are far more important than monetary success.
One definition of the word blessings is “the infusion of something with holiness, divine will or hope.” What a wonderful explanation of God’s blessings! When we are blessed by God, we are showered with His holiness and divine will and given hope. Being blessed means “to be highly favored by God,” and that is what will enable us to prosper in this world.
God blesses us with His kind of prosperity, which is having everything in our lives functioning correctly and in a right manner according to His Word. Prosperity is well-being and growth toward Him. When we have these blessings and prosperity, we are comfortable with what we have and know that we are fortunate to be sheltered by God’s love. God isn’t magnified when His children are struggling, broken in spirit or disgusted with life. He is glorified by our prosperity and the blessedness of our lives, which are achieved through His Grace.
God wants you to prosper in life and succeed at those things that are most important. When we are blessed by Him, we are empowered to succeed in a right life, loving our neighbors and ourselves. When we live such a life, the bounty we give is returned to us ten-fold by those around us and our Lord.
“And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly.”
2 Corinthians 9:8
Notice that God’s Word doesn’t say you will have wealth in abundance, or power in abundance – but you will have His blessings so that you always have enough to share with others. This is God’s wish for our lives – that we are rich in love, rich in charity and rich in our desire to shower our own blessings on others. In this way, God allows us to prosper and grow.
Are you ready to accept the blessings of God and prosper in right living and loving kindness? If so, simply pray to Him and ask for His blessings and His guidance – He will show you the way to true Prosperity and a Successful Life that will grace you now and in eternity. His greatest blessing is forgiveness of your sins so that you are right with Him and worthy of His favor. And with this forgiveness and His love, how can you not prosper?
“See if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you an overflowing of blessings.”
Malachi 3:10
