I remember when I was a little boy I was fascinated by the moon landings. Naturally, I wanted to be an astronaut when I grew up. Unfortunately, my mother would always remind me that if I couldn’t ride the biggest roller coasters at Six Flags that I wouldn’t become an astronaut. Of course it made sense. If I couldn’t overcome the fear of the Great American Scream Machine then how could I possibly expect to handle a rocket ride into space?

Well, I finally managed to overcome my fear of the roller coasters but I never became an astronaut. Although I never made into the astronaut program, I still managed to overcome the smaller fears. That’s what happens to us sometimes. We dream big dreams but we fail to achieve them because we allow the smaller fears to keep us from pursuing them. We fear what people may say or think about us. That alone has stopped many dreams. The big dream never becomes a reality because we don’t overcome the smaller obstacles on the way to fulfilling that dream.

Do we dare to take the stand for our dreams? Talk to God about your dreams. Let Him guide you to overcoming the fears along the way because He’s the one that casts out our fears.
