"He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished." (Proverbs 17: 05)
Part of gossip is the desire to hear someone else's bad news. There are always people who judge others based upon their own situation. Making fun of someone who has less that you have, who doesn't dress as well as you do, who may not be as well educated as you are, reveals a person who is not humble before the LORD. Mocking the situation of others is a terrible offense to them and the Lord. Be thankful for our own blessings, and compassionate toward others less fortunate. The Lord will bless you for such an attitude.
