I thought a kite flying contest, this is so cool!
As I ran through the front door one day after school.
Oh do you think that we could...that we might,
Buy me the biggest, the best flying kite?
Now you would think I'd remember
since I'd been through this before,
The kite that I needed wouldn't come from a store.
There on the table the Call Leader laid,
Oh please let this work dear Lord I prayed.

We folded the paper with extra care
being so careful to not let it tear.
Adding some glue, yes right about there
for the sticks that gave it support.
Clean rags for a tail,
And then some string,
Then dad held it up, what a smile it did bring
to his face....and mine.

Very carefully planned
he had let the words show,
So when everyone watched
they would certainly know
that my kite was special, one of a kind.

There were so many kites flying high that day
and though mine did not get a prize,
As I flew it I smiled with a sparkle in my eyes.

So on that day as we watched my kite soar,
And when everyone read what it said...they knew,
Today, Dad had made my dreams come true.
