Pain seeps thru her pores
She looks around thinking "no more"
She's tired of the same old games
But she's way too afraid to mention their names

Gripping the pew as hard as she can
Fighting back the urge that says 'you can!'
She doesn't want to go down there
Cause she's afraid of what people might think

So instead she stands feet locked together
and hands gripping the seat.
With a pounding that runs,
from her head to her feet

All the while she fights
the voices in her head
and ignores the message
from her heart

But the pain is unbearable
and the urge only grows stronger
What can she do?
she feels like she will falter

The preacher call one last time
Her blood boils hot and
her body temperature quickly rise
"I can't do this!" she cries

He knows she needs help
It's written all over her face
He touches someone's heart and says
"Go and embrace"

They approach her, and ever so gently
wrap her in a hug
At that moment, she knew
"this is the moment I've been waiting for"

Slowly she steps out of her shell.
Takes one foot forward.
And immediately, she felt like she stepped out of Hell
She smiled at the thought of leaving the Ward

After the first step
She felt she could run the rest of the way
She knelt at the alter
and her heart smiled that day

No more heat
No more pounding noise
No more pain

Oh! The unspeakable joy
she felt as she stood there.
The load had been lifted
No more burden to bear.

She walked away
with a smile on her face
Holding the hand of the one
Who gave her the embrace
