A DAY WITH THE GENTLEMAN

Good day to you sir,
And how do you do?
I just thought I'd stop by
And have a word or too with you.
do you have a moment?
or should I come back later?
there’s always another day we
could arrange to have a meal together.

What’s that you say sir,
No bother at all?
You’d be grateful for the company
‘cause everything else around here
seems dull?
Well, thank you sir, you have just made my day,
Because you see sir, I’ve come a long way.

What’s this all about
you’re asking me now?
well sir, I need to talk my troubles out
And up to this day I haven’t seen how.
Well sir, the road of life often
seems quite long
and sometimes there’s no way to make it
Especially when you are not strong:

The rivers are quite wide when you
need to get to the other side,
And the seas are so rough with the
swelling of the tide.
sometimes you find hope in the strangest of time
and someone special brings a smile
to your face, or maybe mine.

But most of all sir………………….
Eh, what’s that you say? Sometimes
you can spot a rainbow on the cloudiest day?
Oh sir, you’re quite right you know,
you know that’s quite true…
Wow! Look at the time, I didn’t know
it was so long I was talking to you.

I really must go now, I wish
I could stay,
you don’t know how happy you’ve made me
on this fine, sunny day.
Thank you for listening, you’re just
what I needed,
you know something else, people tried
to talk to me, but I never heeded.

So from now on I’ll listen, just
like you did today
then I’ll return to tell you all about it some day.

What, I can call on you anytime
even when my sky seems grey?
