When they heard
this, all in the synagogue
were filled with wrath.
And, they rose up
and put Him out of
the city,
and led Him to the brow
of the hill...
that they might throw
Him down headlong.

THIS, LORD?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"THAT'S weird!"

[SILENCE.]

"THIS part's....
really WEIRD."

"Tell Me,
what you really think,
My precious."

(Slight pause.)
(Hesitant pause.)
(Smile!)
"I think it's FUNNY!"
(Chuckle!)

[SLOW, PATIENT NOD.]

"Am I the only
PERSON,
who sees the HUMOR,
in this?"
(Laughing!)

[PATIENT SIGH.]

"I think it's FUNNY!"

[GAZE AT A LITTLE
UNDERGROUND GROUP
OF FIRE ANTS, IN
SOUTH TEXAS,
WHO ARE WAITING FOR THE
OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE
TO GET HOTTER*.]

(Chuckle!)
"I picture this little
group of scruffy Jews...."

"Why scruffy,
My beloved?"

"Huh?"
(Thoughtful squint.)
"Well......EVERYBODY
looked scruffy,
in THOSE days, Lord!
Ya know: what with
those dirty long ROBES,
and all.....
I can't IMAGINE,
that they did their
LAUNDRY, very often!
ECH!
And.....everybody had
those LONG ROBES,
in the DIRT, and STUFF!"

"Ah.
I see."
[SOLEMN NOD.]
[SMILE.]
"Go on."

"Yeah!
So, I picture this
little group of scruffy
people.....getting really
mad, and shocked,
from what JESUS
was sayin'....."

"Why,
child."

"Why WHAT?"
(Squint.)
"Oh.
Ya mean, at JESUS?
Well.....because,
He was trying to tell
them that ....eh,
Ya know....
He had just come to
FULFILL everything,
and....He knew they
wouldn't BELIEVE Him!"
(Thoughtful pause.)
(Slip some Lipton iced tea.)
"And.....that, the Gentiles
were gonna get blessed...
INSTEAD!"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

(Chuckle.)
"And....that THEY would
all get SCATTERED.....
and, one day.....
end up in....
the Land of the Fire Ants!"

[LONG SUFFERING
GAZE, FULL OF DEEP
LOVE.]
[GAZE AT A SMALL,
HAZY CLOUD OVER
SAN ANTONIO.]

"So, WHAT did they DO?
PULL Him,
and DRAG Him,
by His CLOTHES.....
outta the TOWN?
And.....over to a kind of
steep HILL?"

[LISTENING.]

"So.....HOW did He
get AWAY,
LORD?"

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"HOW DID HE GET
AWAY?"

"Who,
precious."

"JESUS!"

"That all depends,
child.

"On WHAT?"

"On what,
you believe."

But
passing through
the midst of them,
He went away.
And He went down to
Capernaum, a city of Galilee.
And He was teaching them
on the Sabbath;
and they were
astonished
at His teaching,
for His word
was with
authority.
[Luke 4:30-32]
