I can still remember
The boom in my science teacher’s voice
`The foetus is first a tadpole’
Then like a fish in an aquarium
Good God in an expecting mother
I wonder how a woman feels

I can still remember
When as a foetus
I heard mum’s emotion laden voice
Her moans and groans when i kicked
I could feel her warm and tender hands
When she prophesied, speaking words of power

I can still remember
Nine months thereafter
A completely new world, I came
The harsh reality made me scream
My first tear in a new world
Dropped into the palms of loving mama

I can still remember
Her tender loving care
Sweet lullaby of assurance
You are someone special, she sang
Her large eyes, an expression of love
Watched my every tiny move
I can still remember
Tender loving care still
Like magician skilled, she always knew
Her large ears, every whisper to pick
On her left breast, I suckled to sleep
Why, God did I have to grow

I can still remember
Diligent Mama `praying in tongues’
Brought me up, bible in hand
Sent me to college, bible in mouth
I grew up, bible in heart
Thanks Lord for ma sweet Mama
