That I may know him

Our quest in these days should be to know God and to know him more intimately. Just like Paul who said - that I may know him ...(Phillipians 3:10), we should desire to know more of God each day. I believe God is set and ready to reveal more of himself to us as we draw closer to him by paying the price of seeking him in prayer and walking in his Spirit.
One of the mysteries God would like to reveal to the body in these times is that of the God-head.

A lot of people don't know God and they get irritated on hearing that God is three in one - the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The scriptures say in John 1:1 that Jesus is God and we know that even though the Son of God is 100% God, he was also 100% man. The Father is accepted by all Christians to be God but not all will testify to the fact that Jesus is also God. I think it is a mystery to such people and it will continue to be one until they draw closer to the Lord.

When our Lord Jesus Christ was a mortal man on the earth, he was made lower than the Father. Some people may have thought that the Father held the same position as the Son but Jesus himself said - my father is greater than I (John 14:28b) and scriptures also point to the fact that the Father was greater than him though they had equal power and authority (Jesus said - All power in heaven and earth as been given to me). Jesus called him his Father and his God and this statement of Jesus could make one wonder if Jesus is really God. The truth still remains that he is God. Just like my human body and my human spirit are one and both bear the same name though my spirit is greater; so it was with the God-head. The Father and the Son are one but the Father was greater than the Son in position when the Son came as man. He had been from the beginning and would forever be. Joseph had the same power with the pharaoh but in seat pharaoh was greater so it was with the Father and the Son. After Jesus resurrected and ascended, he was made LORD over all and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

The Holy Spirit is no less than God. Many could have erroneously viewed him to be less than Jesus but the bible says - Jesus is the child of the Holy Spirit. What would you consider to be the meaning of this ? The Holy Spirit is God and the truth remains that they all have equal power and authority but the Spirit always takes a humble position and he is often called the Spirit of Christ and the Spirit of the Father because he now represents them on the earth.

Nevertheless, the truth that says- our God is one and that the three members of the God-head are equal and are always together should not be discarded. Wherever the Son is, the Father and Spirit are also present and wherever the Spirit is, the Father and the Son are also present as well. The only period recorded in the bible that portrayed the fact that they ever got separated was when Jesus carried the sins of the world. He cried and said - my God, my God, why have you forsaken me? The Father and the Spirit left him temporarily because Christ was carrying the sins of the world and literally became sin on the cross. The scriptures tells us that - God has pure eyes that cannot behold iniquity. But in spite of this, we must not forget that the three members of the God-head were all actively involved in the work of redemption (The Father sent his Son to die and was with him all through - working miracles and saving many souls. The Holy Spirit was also with Christ. In fact, it was the Holy Spirit that impregnated the virgin Mary. We also know he was also the one that quickened the dead body of Christ when he resurrected) and hither to, they are still actively involved in saving the lives of men all across the nations of the world.

These statements could make someone desire to know more of God. To him/her, it could be like - what have I been taught before? Truly, this is the work of the Spirit of God that reveals hidden things to us. The revelations could make us to wanna yearn for more of God and as we yearn and steadfastly behold his face, its my prayer that we get to see the God-head more clearly and know him more and more.(Amen).
