I have read many reviews that the Diamond Head Inn in San Diego is a terrible hotel and that there were many things wrong.

HOWEVER, what is it that you want from your hotel? The price was incredibly inexpensive especially for being right by the beach and in southern California.

From what I have read, some travellers were expecting a world class resort with five stars. The hotel and its staff never promised nor advertised such amenities. If that's what you want, then expect to pay for it. One person made the comment that he or she moved to the hotel across the street, which he or she commented as being "much nicer". Well, I noticed that the price was $100.00 more a night. That is a significant difference!

The hotel marketed itself in a very professional manner and when I contacted the office, they were very honest in letting us know the amenities, location, and condition of the hotel. They told me that it was under repair but we would get a spacious room with a kitchenette.

We had a suite with four separate rooms and a complete working kitchen! All this for less than $100.00 per night! We were usually outside on the beach or in town anyway and the room was more than enough to give us a place to rest at night! It was extremely safe and clean.

In conclusion, the Diamond Head Inn and its staff surpassed my expections.
