Mark 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

Some may be wondering if the title should
be written as "the calm before the storm ".

Looking around us in these current times, I would have to say -no.
The storms of this world are going strong and the darkness is on the increase. Only for a brief moment when our Lord Jesus commanded the winds and the sea to be still were they -- as we read in Mark 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

Genocide, perils, temptations, trials, sufferings, wars, disease, natural disasters, poverty, along with greed and deception fill the earth. The earth is crying continuously as the storms rage on and Matthew Chapter 24 tells us of the days we are now living in. True believers are to remain patient and confident in God and not be filled with doubt. We are commanded to watch and pray.

Let's go back to the boat once again when Jesus addressed those who were with Him saying, "vs.40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?" It is amazing. They were in the very presence of Christ our Saviour and even so, they were consumed with fear . The disciples took their eyes and focus off of Jesus Christ and fell victim to the storm. They acted as if they were without refuge, without a shield and without the anchor of Hope even though they had the greatest anchor possible on that boat with them.


No Faith.

Christ spoke these words to them as a present judgment,though not a final one. They would learn from the experience and grow to trust Christ .This event would change them as they would be a witness to the power of Christ and once we know of that divine power and authority , we are never the same. There are times where we too, get distracted or overwhelmed by the storms that come into our own life. We must remember the words of Christ where he proclaimed - Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. - Matthew 28:20

There will be a calm one day and the calmness will forever remain. There will no longer be darkness or deception from anyone or anything. Revelation 4 :4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new.


Let us give thanks and praise to God daily for Jesus Christ who is our eternal hope as it is written in Hebrews 6:19--
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;
