Poetry
(1964 before I met Jesus)
The sea was lapping at my feet
I looked at it and thought
“Freedom is my only dream”
This dream the old sea caught
Let me ruler of the world be
And I would choose to spend my days
On an isolated island in the turquoise sea
With one who’d care to share my ways.
In the world of hot white sands
With lazy palm trees bent
Rocking in the tropic breeze
Which seems from heaven sent
The sun burning into one’s soul
And bringing great contentment
Lost forever is all hate,
All malice and resentment
Let me be forever lost
In the carefree ways of the warm white sand,
In my path not a worry tossed
Just me and paradise hand in hand.
And finally the sea did say
While rushing back to me,
“At last, my child, this is your day,
You now are truly free!”

This is one of your best. To me, it is great just the way it is, but, of course, the rhythm is not the same, but I don't even care. Perhaps its another style I never heard of ! :)
Even without the Lord, at that time it seems in some way that you knew Him. I've seen that in a lot of your earlier work . Good job.
