got Weaker,
and Weaker."

"Until, You were
like, almost
Nothing."

[NOD.]

"Like,
a Dot."

[PATIENT GAZE.]

"Just a Little Dot."

[SILENCE.]

"Like, a Little Dot,
out by JUPITER."

[NOD.]

"Then, Ya even
got further."

"And, where
was that,
child?"

"Huh?"
(Shrug.)
"I dunno:
out, by PLUTO?"

[NOD.]

"And then,
since, my
Dad died,
I keep tryin'
to pull Ya, back."

[SILENCE.]

"Ya know:
like, these
CHRISTIANS
tell me t'a do."

[SMILE!]

(Careless shrug.)
"Yeah.
Sometimes, it works,
and sometimes,
it doesn't."

[NOD.]

"They tell me,
all this great stuff,
about You."

"Do you believe,
child?"

"Sometimes."
(Shrug.)
(Frown.)
"Does it MATTER?"

[NOD.]
"Yes, child.
To Me."

(Squint.)
"Yeah,
but....if Y'ur
just a Little Dot...."

"Yes?"

"I dunno,
Lord.
I think the world's
pretty horrible."

[PATIENT SILENCE.]

"And, I'm over
half a century old."
(Squint up at air vent.)
"So.....I think I know
what I'm talkin'
about."

"I understand,
My child."

(Philosophical squint.)
"I dunno;
I mean,
if You were Real,
wouldn't Ya be
doin' a hell of a lot
MORE?"

[SILENCE.]

"You don't mind
me sayin' 'hell',
DO You?"

"Why should I,
child?"

(Shrug.)
(Downcast frown.)
"I dunno."

[TENDER VOICE.]
"After all,
I AM just
a Dot."
