I’m a dreamer

What is the world without dreams? The dreamer adds colour to the world. The dreamer …not the one who dreams yet lies in wait while sleeping on his dreams and sucking his thumb, but I am talking about the budding artist, the innovative entrepreneur, the springing jack-of-all-trades, the one who can dare step out into the world with his dream and live it. Where is such a magnanimous soul? Where can I find that precious one who can help me live my dream as I help him live out his own? Who can sharpen me as iron sharpens iron; adding to me while I add to him. Who can breathe the hope and ambition that he owns onto my colourless existence, and onto my blank canvass? Who can lend me a hand for mine is bent? It has been made skew by the bully called Life. It has been twisted by the ravenous, howling fox called Misshapenness. My life thus far is great. But somewhere, somehow I may have lost sight of my dreams. I want my existence to be blessed by the hand of God yet shaped by my dreams. Tell me, is it wrong to dream? Looking at this world that is set on survival and lacking in creativity and spark I sometimes wonder. I have tried to ignore my mind as it dreams, my heart as it pounds to the rhythm of all it desires, my bones as they are inflamed with passion, my pulse as it pulsates with the zeal to live out these dreams. I have tried to ignore the way that I feel about the way that I feel. I have tried to ignore the fact that I dare to be someone great in this lifetime. My dream is not so much about the things of this world and possessing them. That’s all good and well but these days I dream about other things. Greater things. As I grow I realize that life is an opportunity to thrive in some precious gift that you possess; something God-given, a talent perhaps, a skill or a passion. Life is not always about finding a means to survive, if at all. If I can leave this world having left a colorful and indelible stain that cannot be removed from the face of existence and from the archival glory of Great men then I would not only have dreamed but I would have also lived.
