"Trans-," one of the most common prefixes in the English language, is used in words that signify change or movement from one thing or place or condition to another, and it has a lot of significant applications to the Christian walk. Here is a look at a "trans-word" that directly applies to how God communicates with His born again children: TRANSMIT.

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11 NKJV

But when He, the Spirit of Truth (the Truth-giving Spirit) comes, He will guide you into all the Truth (the whole, full Truth). For He will not speak His own message [on His own authority]; but He will tell whatever He hears [from the Father; He will give the message that has been given to Him], and He will announce and declare to you the things that are to come [that will happen in the future]. He will honor and glorify Me, because He will take of (receive, draw upon) what is Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. Everything that the Father has is Mine. That is what I meant when I said that He [the Spirit] will take the things that are Mine and will reveal (declare, disclose, transmit) it to you. John 16:13-15 AMP

In the 1995 movie, Crimson Tide**, Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington play the captain and executive officer (“XO”) of the United States nuclear missile submarine, The U.S.S. Alabama. The Alabama is sent out to prevent post-Cold War Russian rebel forces from launching Russian nuclear missiles at the U.S. and our allies. Conflict between captain and XO erupts when the transmission of an Emergency Action Message (“EAM”) is cut off while The Alabama is attempting to avoid a Russian submarine. Naval Command had earlier transmitted a first EAM ordering The Alabama to prepare to launch its missiles at the rebel forces, but the failed transmission of the second EAM put Command’s launch orders in question. The captain insisted that The Alabama should proceed with the order to launch, while the XO was determined that the launch must be delayed until they could obtain the complete transmission of the second EAM.

As Christians who desire to hear from God, we are often subject to a similar conflict. God is always speaking (transmitting) to us, and when we listen and obey, we are immensely blessed. Sometimes, however, the transmission from God to human is cut off, and we are unsure what to do.

God’s transmissions to us may be disrupted by attacks from demonic forces who plant contrary or confusing thoughts in our minds. We may also fail to receive God’s transmissions due to our own sin that we haven’t confessed to Him – we are already forgiven for all sin, past, present and future, but unconfessed sin can cut off God’s transmissions because we have not yet actively received His forgiveness, and we feel guilty, unworthy and under accusation from the Enemy.

Sometimes, we hear the beginnings of a transmission from God, and we take off and run with only a partial Word, without remaining patient and allowing God to finish what He was saying. We need to train ourselves to be certain that we have received the whole, entire transmission before we jump ahead of God. Rushing ahead of God means we are working in our own limited strength and knowledge, not in His unlimited power and wisdom.

When there is a conflict between your heart and your head (between your spirit and your mind, will and/or emotions), resolve that you will side with your spirit. Your spirit is the part of you that is a little piece of God. It is the part of you that communicates on God’s frequency, where the transmissions are clear and free from every interruption.
