Are you known to others by your occupation? Surely, you have heard, “ John, the Dr”or“Mary ,The Teacher. We once had a small town Low Power TV Station and my husband quickly became described as “Norm, The TV Man.” Well, my Mother-In-Law , which I prefer to think of as my
”Mother-In-Love”, is our “Gourd Lady!” For many years she has worked
with gourds, often raising acres of her own. She makes Martin Bird Houses and assorted
crafts from various sized and shaped gourds. It has been her labor of love! She operates her
own Real Estate Business, also; but she is The GOURD Lady! As I read the Bible I find it
interesting how often that gourds are mentioned. Do you remember Jonah and his Gourd Shade vine?( Jonah 4:6) They were even part of the ornate decorations in The Temple, described in ( I Kings 6:18), Hollman Bible) Another portion of scripture to search is found in (II Kings 4:39-41). Gourds appear very much like squash when growing on the vine.
Isn't it a blessing when our work is so enjoyable that is almost like a favorite hobby?
What ever your occupation , from homemaker, to C.E.O., or Church Leader, we can each do
our best. (I Corinthians 10:31) Maybe, one day I will become “The Writer Lady!”
