At the city gates
I saw men coming and going
Buying and selling
All sorts of merchandize
The merchants with well coined lies
Sold their goods to these fools
Attention magnified I watched
My mind hypnotized by this sorry sight, I sat and watched
Colors green, white, blue, red were so easy to get
“Come near! Come near!” Said the merchants
“For these are the best.”
Like a mating call he drew them
Souls heading for a fall I couldn’t stop them
One picked green and suddenly his nakedness was seen
The other picked white and he was removed from the light
The next chose blue My God! He didn’t know who was who!
The last chose red and immediately dropped his head to sleep
My tears couldn’t keep. I wept
Wiping my tears I set out to talk to these fools-
But alas, they all looked familiar
It’s like I knew them. They were familiar
Taking a closer look, my knees shook
For I saw that these fools were all me!
I began to weep
Then I heard my name over and over again
My eyes popped open
Lo, it was all a dream
...and I wept
