Children

A hard working man declares:
I wish I were a mole, not a man,
So I could dig a hole into the sand,
I'd pop my head out,
Rear back and shout;
I love diggin' holes through out the land.

A fun loving girl imagines:
'Wish I were a goldfish, not a girl,
With all my scales white as a pearl,
I'd swim around the lake
All for fun's sake;
Splash around and make the water swirl.

A wistful boy dreams:
I wish I were a bird, not a boy,
All the air and sky would be my toy,
I'd fly around,
Land upon the ground,
And chirp, chirp, chirp with joy.

A wise woman teaches:
I want to be a child of the Lord,
Not a mole, a fish, or a bird,
Because you see,
He chose me
To give the blessings of his Word.


This is just a silly child's rhyme I started singing one day at work while trying to dig up some stubborn rocks.
