Such a precious moment
Engraved deep in my soul
When first my eyes beheld your face
Your tiny, fragile form;
My heart was overflowing
With such amazing joy
Just to hold you in my arms,
Beautiful, beautiful boy.

We shared such happy times together,
Joy sparkled in your eyes;
So wonderful you made each day
However dark the skies;
Together we have known such joy,
Together felt such pain,
Together basked in sunshine's warmth,
Together braved the rain;

And now as shadows lengthen
And blue skies turn to grey,
As swallows fly and nights grow cold
And shorter grows the day,
One thing I want to say to you,
One thing above all other,
I'm blessed to have you as my son,
I'm blessed to be your mother.

And whatever lies ahead,
Whatever days may bring,
Whatever rhythm we dance to,
Whatever songs we sing,
However glad, however sad,
Painful or full of joy,
You always were and always are
My beautiful, beautiful boy.
