Finding Love
Love was a word to me I could not really define. So I lived everyday afraid of making the wrong definition. Because every time I thought it was, alas! It was not. So I did what I had to do. Take anything that came my way. Oh it was a long ride. And a bumpy one too!
On the way I met anger. Well, I accommodated it somewhere at the back seat of my car. All along I thought it was me that provoked.
Then I met jealousy. I opened the door to my cabin. In my heart I knew I was beautiful so I thought it was only normal to be jealous. Along I drove on adding into my cabin all I met on the way. I added selfishness, malice, rudeness, envy, puffiness. Funny I never noticed that my car was getting heavy and heavy. My tires started to wear out. The engine started to croak and churn and my seats, little by little the cushions became hard to seat on. What a bad looking car I was.
Then I thought to myself. It was time I needed a mechanic. I tried and tried. I was so tired. I had tried everything. Then I took this book. Well what did I have to loose anyway. I went to John 3:16. Then I read the most amazing thing. ?For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life? I was like wooh. Who could have done something like this? I wanted to know that person and that life. So I read some more and more. Then I read that he died for us and his name was Jesus.
Had I found my mechanic? I wondered to myself. I asked a friend and she told me to go to church and people there will tell me more.
I drove my ugly looking car to church. Funny as I parked my car there nobody noticed how ugly I looked but instead I received smiles and welcomes. I sat at the corner and listened to this man who everybody was listening to. My mind was not there but as he continued something he said captured my mind. ?Jesus Loves you? Me! I almost shouted.
I somehow felt this was true though with my many loads I hardly believed it. Then he went ahead ?Cast your cares and burdens unto him. For his yolk is easy and his burden light? All this he said was from the book that had led me here. I walked majestically to him. Suddenly my loads seemed too heavy. I walked to him and asked him ?Did you say we cast all our burdens to him and that he loves us? He looked at me straight into my eyes and said yes. Tears rolled down my cheeks. I said loudly I want this Jesus. Instantly peace flowed into my soul. I felt light and happy.
When I left that building my ugly looking car was gone and replaced with a new beautiful car. As I jumped in and drove off the day seemed so beautiful. I noticed the beautiful patterns of the clouds. I rolled down my windows and enjoyed the breeze. The air smelled so much better. Wooh it was so good to be alive at that moment. I pulled over a few miles and pulled out from my bag my book. The bible. Then I turned the pages and guess where I landed at 1st Corinthians 13:4-8. ?Love suffers long and is kind. Love does not envy, love does not parade itself and it?s not puffed up. Love does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, it?s not provoked, thinks no evil, does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never fails.?
My heart burned with pain as I thought of all the things I had let come my way. They were the opposite of this. In my heart I wanted all things. I wanted to be loved this way. Was it possible? I closed my eyes and asked God to send me such a love. I also told him that I had read in this book that anything we desire when we pray we ask him by faith and he will give it to us.
By this time I had realized that God is love. And that we are made in the image of God. So that meant we are the image of love. Love never fails. If love was all this things and we are made in the image of love, then we could never fail in love if we are the children of God.
I desired this and I prayed ?God give me somebody who will love me like you would want me to be loved. I want a reflection of your love through this person. I want to experience all this things in 1st Corinthians13:4-8. I desire that love?
Many days have gone by. And as I lie here in my husbands arms I thank God. For all I asked for he gave me more. As I close my eyes I thank God, for in him I found Love.
