Setting
A news studio with an interview desk. Eli is center, with Gloria and Harold to each side. Eli could have a microphone, but this is not necessary.

Characters
Eli: a reporter. Interviews are in studio. Eli could wear a simple sport coat and shirt, with or without a tie.
Harold and Gloria: Angels, with appropriate costumes.

********

Eli: Good evening. My name is Eli Higgins, reporting for News Channel 5. Tonight I have with my two very special guests. They are two of the angels that helped announce the birth of the Christ child. Harold and Gloria, come one out!

Harold and Gloria enter

Eli: Good evening.

Harold and Gloria: Good evening.

Eli: Now, tell me something. How did it feel to be chosen to help make what may very well be the greatest announcement of all time?

Harold: Well, I’m not certain it's the greatest announcement of all time.

Eli: Well, what could rival it?

Harold: "Then God said 'Let there be light!'"

Eli: Well, okay. You may have a point there. But certainly this is the greatest announcement in quite some time. Tell me, how did it feel?

Gloria: I was... amazed. Shocked. Me? Little ol' me? Chosen to help announce the arrival of the Savior of the world? I felt so unworthy.

Harold: I must admit, I felt the same way Gloria felt. So unworthy. It would have been such an honor to merely be chosen of one of the many in the "multitude of heavenly hosts," but to be chosen at the main messenger and the first messenger? Well, that was just such an honor.

Eli: Fascinating. Now tell me, how long did you guys practice singing that song you sang to the shepherds?

Gloria: Actually, it's a common misconception that we sang. But we actually just said the words. Now we do have some fabulous angel choirs, which is probably where the concept came from, but we didn't sing. And it's a good thing too, because despite my name, I can not sing. Well, I mean, I can, but let's just say that there wouldn't be songs about angels singing if I were the one to sing.

Eli (chuckling): Could have used a bit of help from King David, huh?

Gloria: You could say that.

Eli: Harold, what about you? Did you rehearse your message over and over again until you had it perfect?

Harold: Believe it or not, no. In fact, I had no clue what I was even saying, until the Lord put the words in my mouth.

Eli: Wow. Weren't you nervous?

Harold: Not really. I knew the Lord would give me the exact words at the exact time, so that put my mind at ease.

Eli: So just how scared were those shepherds?

Harold (chuckling): Oh, I gave them quite a fright. Had to reassure them before I could even go on with my main message. The poor shepherds had their staffs out in front of them, like swords. As if that could stop a heavenly messenger. I'm sorry, but if the Lord wants to get your attention, He will. Staff or no staff.

Eli: Yes, if there's one thing I've learned from my many interviews, it's that if God wants your attention, you are futile to resist. Before we close, why don't you share with our viewers one short message that sums up the reason behind your announcement?

Harold and Gloria look at each other, trying to decide who gets to answer

Harold: You go ahead, Gloria.

Gloria: Well, it's really exactly what Harold told the shepherds, "...there has been born for you a Savior who is Christ the Lord." He's so much more than just a baby. He is the Promised Messiah.

Harold: Once you grasp that concept.... well, you'll never be the same. You'd better just hang on and enjoy the ride. Angels just might be the least of your worries.

Eli: Well, this has been an amazing interview, but we've run out of time for tonight. So until next time, this is Eli Higgins, singing off. *sings* Good night.
