Proverbs 18:24…A friend sticks closer than a brother

I see a little girl, sitting down beside the road
Her head is leaning downward, for she carries a heavy load
Though I cannot see her face, she's full of shame and afraid
Her heart is very weary of the pain that she and others have made

Some walk right past her as if she didn't exist
Some were too afraid to stop to help, a burden they cannot risk
Some stop to say a kind word, feel that is enough, and then leave her there
For they think if they stop, I understand, her pain they would have to share

There were those who stopped, and extended their helping hand
They put aside themselves, again, again, and again
This is where she seemed to grow in strength more and more each time
That someone lifted her up, and in that freedom she would eventually find

Until the day finally came, she stood up big and tall
All the pain, anguish, guilt, and shame off of her heart did fall
Now she is so happy, so full of life and free
Thank you my friend, I love you, for not giving up on me

You, my friend are one of the few treasures life has to give
You, my friend are one more reason I am glad that I can live
This new life Christ has given me, that others too might know
I know you did this in His name, may God bless you wherever you go
