The Least of These


Unsure in our hearts of who we really are,
Wondering about how we fit in the greater scheme of things,
We see ourselves as one of the least of these.

Struggling to find our place in life,
Perceiving there are bigger roles to be filled, greater task to be done,
We believe we are one of the least of these.

Never recognizing the impact we have made,
Questioning the significance of our lives in making a difference,
We unknowingly care for the least of these.

Yet, before our birth God knew us,
Designing each of our lives for His gracious plans, His perfect will,
So we could aid and serve the least of these.

There is no greater role to play,
Loving all who cross our paths with the love of Christ who first loved,
Who identifies with the least of these.

One day our influence will be revealed,
Living in a place where the last will be first and the least will be great,
Christ will embrace and hold the least of these.
