God’s understanding or mine?

When faced with a situation and I have a choice to make, what do I base my decision on – my understanding or God’s understanding?

We often fail to acknowledge God in ‘all’ our ways especially in the little things of life, we are more prone to go to Him when we have a big problem, which is good but I believe and according to His word God wants to be in on every issue of our lives. In proverbs 3;6 it says, ‘in all your ways acknowledge Him’ so God wants us to involve Him in all we do. How different our lives will be if we involve God in all we do?
The bible clearly advices us to “trust not your own understanding” in proverbs 3;5. When we fail to go to Him, it implies we know it all and we are able to handle the situation on our own. The bible says in proverbs 14;12, that there is a way that seemth right, but its end is destruction.

The way to avoid destruction or going the wrong way is to allow God direct our path – proverbs 3:6.
I usually give this illustration, if you are to go to a new place and a man is willing to take you there, the easiest way to get to that place without wasting time and encountering trouble is simply by following the man that knows the way.
And God is all knowing, He knows where every path leads to, even the one you are about to take .He knows the outcomes of every decision we make. I think its wiser to stay and take orders from the one who said “I am the way …” john 14; 6, He is also the good shepherd – it is the job of a shepherd to lead the sheep.
However, one thing I have learnt is that for the shepherd to effectively lead the sheep to the right place the sheep has to be willing and obedient to take orders and counsels form the shepherd. The bible says in Isaiah 1; 19, that ‘if you are willing and obedient you shall eat the good of the land’. Therefore, it takes a willing heart and obedience to be guided by God and to enjoy the good of the land.

Lets start practicing the act of acknowledging God in all we do (proverbs 3:6) and watch Him direct our paths as He promised to do just that. God can never lead us to a wrong place or path, His ways are just and pure, and only in His way can we find true satisfaction and joy for our souls. God bless you.
