Getting Older


Now that I’m getting older,
I love to sing and shout.
But I have to be really careful,
To make sure my teeth don’t fall out.

I really love my grandchildren,
They number a hundred and two.
Things here never get boring,
My house seems more like a zoo.

You say I love to tell stories,
And I repeat a few.
I don’t forget that I tell them,
I do it to aggravate you.

And don’t worry about my hearing,
You may think I’m starting to loose.
It’s not that I don’t hear things,
I just listen to what I choose.

So as I grow old I get better;
I mellow and fill with grace.
But don’t be mistaken my young friend,
Slow down and I’ll take your place.
