The Other Side of Christmas

His Father had redemption’s plan,
A way to show His grace to man.
A sacrifice, it would take,
The size of which was so great.

The Father and the Son are one,
So when God thought it, it was done.
God so longed to save the world,
To show to all His love unfurled.

The Son was called to pay the price,
To make Himself a sacrifice.
For man’s sin, he would pay,
So our guilt could wash away.

Nothing for Himself to gain,
For over all, He did reign.
The King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
He was and is forever more.

He was seated on His throne,
His glory ’round about Him shone.
But His glory, He didn’t hold,
He gave it up to save our souls.

All thoughts of self, He set aside,
Then came to earth to abide.
I cannot comprehend His love,
To come to us from up above.

He was born in Bethlehem,
The shepherds ran to worship him.
Later wise men came to see,
The one when born already King.

So now we celebrate on earth,
At Christmas time our Savior’s birth.
Our hearts are filled with thanks and praise,
We rejoice for days and days.

But don’t forget the other side,
A Father’s heart split open wide.
He chose to send His only Son,
Through whose life His will was done.
