I searched for happiness in ways
the world deemed I accept
Convinced myself I'd found it there,
now and again.

But fleeting it remained
never healing all my pain
Causing me to chase
elusive promises in vain

One day my Jesus came to me
with joy immeasurable, and free!
Said it was always there to
all who would but see.

I know now of the well spring
From which joy flows and of which I sing
Halleluiah, praise the Lord!
As joy abundantly is poured

Jesus only, fills that space
Heals the pain and takes its place
Gives us happiness and peace
Worldly wondering now ceased

Nothing temporal can compare
To the happiness found there
Only Jesus
Precious Savior
Answers prayer
