When Time Stands Still

All through life, we struggle to get ahead.
Strive to get our piece of the pie.
Run the race to win the prize.
Set backs always stop the clock.
For a time, the clock stands still.

Injustice can be swift. Knock us to our knees.
I know this all too well.
During my struggle, I learned the meaning of loss.
Time proved to almost destroy me.
finding opposing forces within my circle.
All I had was my faith in God.

My clock slowed even more through the years.
Reaching for goals that would one day be taken from me.
The victim of a sociopath who tried to harm me.
Watching my support go to the other side.

All I got was disappointed and depressed.
Anger ruled my mind and my spirit.
Thinking my clock had stopped.
Believing it was all for nothing.

God does not always work when we want him to.
Sometimes he takes his time.
Sometimes he tells us how sufficient his grace is.
There is a reason for the pain we face.

We have to be reminded of our place in this life.
How much we really need God.
How we can do nothing without him.

When we are ready to quit God makes his move.
Does a work in us we will not believe.
We are better people in the end.
Strange as it seems, we thank God for what we went through.

God works in ways we cannot conceive or understand.
We may be better off not understanding it all.
When we reach the end God renews our strength.
God does his best work when time stands still.
