Lord, get us through the Holidays,
The toughest time of year.
I try so hard for them Lord,
Yet so much isn’t here.

I want to give my children,
The same as any other,
All I can,
is all I am ,
a working single mother.

Aside from feeling hardship,
I know they miss their Dad,
So my Lord it’s quite the task,
For us to not feel sad.

He left us in December,
Spending Christmas Day with You.
We manage fine,
Most of the time,
But sometimes grief comes through.

So help me pull the biggest smile,
Forgive the world in me,
Focus on ’When Love came down.’
In the Holy days of Thee.

shared to help another,

James 4:8,
'Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you.'

Beautifully written! I love the honesty and transparency of this poem. Bless you as you celebrate with new traditions and a Jesus centered heart.

As a single mother whose husband died when my sons were still practically babies, I can relate to this. It brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for sharing this, Elizabeth. May every single parent be blessed with this poem. God bless you! Love, Lyn ^-^

Elizabeth, the greatest gift you can give to your children is yourself, and a smiling face. And I know you do that..Little things please children. But LOVE is the best gift of all...I know in times past, when we fostered children, the most fun at Christmas was when we all MADE gifts. It was a great and fun Christmas,,,,not even any Christmas lights, as we didn't have electricity...But we had each other, and the kids loved making decorations for the tree, which we took from the woods around us...Great fun and great to remember...Helen

He will pull you through it Elizabeth. You know i just lost my brother, not the same as a husband, but still dread this Christmas but have two grandchildren living with me for a while and we have to make it for them and i know we will. Written so beautifully!

How precious you all are! I struggled with sharing this poem, for many reasons.......but then God said,'Hey, it's alright to be human, and maybe you can help someone else feel a little less alone'........and draw them closer to Him.
