My Day

Bianca Starr

As the sun streams through the window,
Dispelling the sweet darkness,
The morning pampering ritual starts;
Awakening the senses and the mind.
The dependently unpredictable transport arrives
Trudging along with the speed of a snail.
Humans scattering to and fro,
Consumed by their own busy little worlds.
Humdrum classes fuse
Creating one long naptime.

And then…peace, quiet and tranquillity;
A moment with God.

New text books gather a puddle of drool,
Old text books transform into uncomfortable pillows.
Running and trampling here and there;
Humans racing to their beds.
Wishing for the strength and speed of a cheetah
The old transport huffs and puffs along its path.
As the nightly ritual begins,
Bodies slow down
And darkness comes to overshadow the light,
But moon beams penetrate the window.
