They scab over, but then they scar.
These words inflict pain,
Crush a spirit.
Alienate and destroy.
You say "just kidding", but no one is laughing.


Words of truth, spoken in love,
sweet like honey,
Easy to swallow,
easy to digest.
These words change a heart,
Move a mountain,
Calm a storm.
These words shape a future.
These words inspire,
Unite.



Oh speak to me in words of truth, coated in love.
Honesty is what I seek, for only honesty will change me.

Forget the platitudes and insinuations,
The veiled politeness… the partial truths… the barbed humor.
Leave them at the door before you come in
or do not enter.
