The Promise

Everybody makes promises they don’t keep. I’ve done it, you’ve done it. Just the other day my granddaughter wanted a new pair of shoes. She said “Nana, pleeeeease if you will buy these for me I will clean the whole house every day for a week!“ It lasted one day…. All of us - at least one time in our lives - made a promise to someone that went by the wayside. We are human which means we are all liars, all sinners. Sometimes we may even make promises that we know we will break. Is there any hope for us? Oh yes, there is - His name is Jesus.

There are hundreds, maybe even thousands of promises made by God in the bible. God never breaks His promises. "Wherein God, willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of Promise the immutability of His Counsel, confirmed it by an Oath: that... we might have a Strong Consolation... to lay hold upon the Hope set before us: which Hope we have as an Anchor Of The Soul, both sure and stedfast"
(Hebrews 6:17-19).

Our hope is the One promised by God Himself; Jesus……

1st John 2:25 says “And this is the promise that He hath promised us, even eternal life.” Jesus promised us in John 14:2-3 “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

What an awesome promise! Eternal life forever with our Lord. Now that is a promise you can bet your life on! All that is required of us to take hold of this eternal life promise is repentance of our sins and belief in the Lord Jesus as Savior. In turn, He will FREELY give us eternal life. It is a free gift. Oh what a Savior!

Anchor of my soul
Hope of my heart
Jesus, come again….
To nevermore depart

The promise you made
Makes my heart sing
Praises to You alone….
My Savior, my King!
