And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. Luke 19: 1-4

Zacchaeus desired to see Jesus but knowing his limitations he decided to run ahead in order to ensure the achievement of his purpose. The best route to achievement is to identify our shortcomings and seek ways of overcoming and even exploiting same for benefit. So is the Christian walk. The Bible enjoins us to pray and not to faint but there is a place to demonstrate physical action in our walk with God. David was in the wrong place when he, a whole king, went on the rooftop in the daytime. However, he and his children would have been spared a lot of agony if only he was able to dismount when the sight of another man's wife's nakedness was before his face. Instead he chose to stay on to enjoy the splendour and he became ensnared. Everyone will face temptations but we have a duty to instruct our senses to flee when we realise the deadly condition in which we have found ourselves. Why must you proceed to McDonald's restaurant to browse when you are waiting upon the Lord in fasting? Is it because you are holy enough to withstand the temptation and the assault of the aroma of food on your olfactory senses?

Watch it! Although the Bible says the Lord will always provide an avenue of escape from every temptation. Many of us will be waiting endlessly for an angel to come and whisk us away. No! Today, remember that angel is you! The Lord will give strength to your bones when you will them to flee away from danger. To be in spiritual accord with God a physical yieldedness is needed. That is why the Word of God says, "flee away from every appearance of evil". The Bible didn't say pray in the spirit when you can flee.
