Pearly Gates


Fantasizing on the dreams of tomorrow,
quickly fading to memories of yesterday,
lost in the essence of time only borrowed,
dark shadows linger obscuring the way.

For cherished moments we surrender to hope,
divided by the reality of what is or could be,
instilled by emotions constantly trying to cope,
wandering in the darkness we just can’t see.

Distant cries echo from history of long ago,
moving ever slowly in the night’s cold air,
haunting breeze reaching the ground below,
captured in memories of time once shared.

Begotten shadows dance in mindful illusions,
capturing the essence of spirit, body and soul,
left all alone in a world lost in utter confusion,
where our mere existence takes it’s mortal toll.

A place where reality exist within one’s mind,
in a world blended with beauty, love, and hate,
bringing contentment and forgiveness in time,
suddenly, you find yourself at the Pearly Gates.
