Truly, it is no mystery the unimaginable impact dads have over their children. Their influence is evident after the kids leave home and become adults themselves. God , the Father has always had the Father persona and in it we can fully understand that Fathers have an amazing role to play in God’s design. There is a responsibility to carry that has the capacity for greater good and blessing or tragedy and heartache.

The devil spends a lot of time belittling the role of the father. His ultimate goal will be to destroy the Godly image fathers were to possess and in doing so will raise up a fatherless generation. We will have children orphaned physically from absent fathers and spiritually from their heavenly father. Who would want a heavenly father if the earthly father were bad news?

Dads, you are the physical representation of God the Father on earth. That is a lot of responsibility to carry. You children will view in you the nature of a father and in this will want to have the same relationship with God, the father.

Your relationship with your children is a demonstration of a spiritual fatherhood. Your lack thereof can result in their spiritual decline or no relationship with God. I think at this stage, you will be loosening the collar around your neck or possibly wiping the sweat of your brow.

The day you became a Father by choice or not, you took on the role of representing God on earth. This sounds huge to the natural man but fatherhood is the intentional design and desire of God to be a replica of him.

Take a journey back with me to the garden of Eden and to the first sin. You would find that Adam was held responsible for the sin in Eden. Romans 5 vs 12 teaches us wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Then devil belittled Adam and Adam failed in his responsibility to his wife. He did not protect her from the serpent .He left her open for attack, to be tempted and beguiled by the devil .God declared him the protector and guard over Eve and he was not there when temptation set in.

Men did you ever ask yourself how come the devil did not tempt Adam instead of Eve? He possibly knew Adam would not fall for it.( I am giving you men a lot of credit here)Where was Adam when Eve was being tempted? He abandoned his post and destruction entered the household. It took the righteous blood of the Son of God, Jesus Christ, to clean up Adams lineage to restore man to God. Fathers have been given the immense power from God to bless or curse, to establish a Godly lineage or leave a legacy of brokenness. Many of you fathers today need to alter bloodline of your forefathers by washing it clean with the blood of Jesus. Be the first man of God with a heart of Christ in your lineage that the generations to come will be blessed, complete and whole.

(Deuteronomy 5:9) - "You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, and on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me

Now lets see why the iniquities of the fathers are passed on to generations rather than the mothers. As parents we pass on to our kids our way of thinking, our way of dealing with challenges and our behaviour patterns. The continuous exposure of our children to our way of life makes this the norm. They become conditioned by our weaknesses including our strengths. The home environment sets a platform for a way of life. Adam, not Eve was the moral, spiritual and legal head and representative of all mankind. In God’s design the spiritual responsibility and penalty for sin is passed on through the male. That explains why Jesus could be born sinless from a virgin woman.

If dad was a liar, then the son and daughter will probably be a liar also. We see this in the story of Abraham. Abraham was afraid that the king would kill him and take his wife Sarai. So he lied to Pharaoh and told him that Sarai was his sister. Later Abraham traveled to the land of the Philistines where Abimelech was king. He told the exact same lie again. Then forty years later, Abrahams son Isaac, and his wife Rebekah, traveled into the land of the Philistines, where Abimelech was still king. Isaac told the exact same lie that his father told forty years earlier.

Isaac had two sons, Esau and Jacob. Rebekah, who had already lied, along with her husband Isaac, got into a discussion with Jacob over the birthright and together they deceived Isaac and lied to him. Now we have another generation of liars, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It doesn’t stop there. Jacob had twelve sons. Ten of the sons were jealous of Joseph. They killed an animal, kidnapped Joseph, dipped his coat of many colors in the blood, took it back to their father and said that an animal had just killed Joseph (Genesis 37). They lied to Jacob. If it had not been for the intercession of Judah to sell Joseph into slavery, Joseph would have been killed. Now we have four generations of liars. Not only that, Jacob s wife Rachel lied to her father, Laban, over the issue of idols (Genesis 31:19). Now we have both men and women lying.

If you look into your own life, I believe that you can find examples of similar behaviors or attitudes that have passed down through your generations. Negative emotions and behavior have severe consequences in our mental and physical health.
Positive emotions and attitudes will have a corresponding positive affect on our physical health.

So you see dads, you play a vital contributory role to your lineage and as a representative of God the Father. You cannot at any time let down your guard. Someone has to decide that is enough is enough and breaks the cycle.

There may be some things that you are dealing with in your life that you inherited.
We might say, "That's not fair." Well, it's not fair, Satan is never fair. But that's the price we pay for separation from God and opening ourselves to the devil and allowing him to be our father and our leader and our truth.

Dad, God’s Answer to bring about a turnaround in your life and family tree is Repentance and Forgiveness .Not everything you do only affects you , it is a trigger reaction to affect the generations beyond. At some point in your life, it is not about your own happiness but beyond life being just about you. The day you became a father, a part of you gave up the right to be selfish and indignant. You became accountable and responsible for these children. One day, acknowledging this or not, you will have to give an account of your headship responsibility. Every time earthly fathers mess around, God the Father gets a poor reflection and yet he is the perfect example for a father to follow. Nobody wants a relationship with the Heavenly Father when the earthly father is of no good. Do your part right as you have too much at stake should you decide not to. I am not asking you to be perfect, I am asking you to ask God for the grace to be the father he wants you to be. You can’t erase the past but you can ask for forgiveness from your kids, make right and do right in Gods sight.

Romans 12:2 says,
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind….

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Be the man God designed you to be. Generations depend on it .One day your children , grandchildren and great grand children will look behind and say , Thank God , my forefathers lived a holy life because today I live in the generational blessings rather than curses.

Prayer Thought
Thank you Lord for the gift of fatherhood and I ask for your help when I fail to carry out my responsibility, to love and to protect my family. Lead me away from the things that separate me from you and grant me the overcoming grace to fulfil my role and represent you my heavenly Father ,in truth and holiness. Amen
