The sky is protection
Around the earth,
Like a blanket around a baby
Soon after birth.

It wraps us in blue
And smiles upon us by day;
At twilight the sun winks
And daylight fades away.

The night, with its velvet blackness
And diamonds made of star,
Has an ageless beauty
Which nothing can mar.

The sky was there before us,
Ot’ll be there when we go;
What were the skies BEFORE?
Only God does know!
