This was written out of my experience as an RN in a large university student health center. I didn’t know the Lord then.
The person in “Love Thing” was having a bad trip on LSD and the guys with him were a beautiful part of the drug crisis group that I watched and helped while working one night. Wonder what the outcome would have been if there’d been a prayer team there?

Love Thing

Saw you there tonight
All three
Holding him to you
While in agony
He screamed
“Believe in me! Believe in me!..... Lost it, it was.
Lost it, Lost it…..”

While he clung desperately to your neck/his life
Ears unhearing, but you three talked to him
And held him close
The energy, the intensity of your concern
He couldn’t hear or see, but surely it must have
Touched the bottom of his mind, just as your hand
On his forehead showed you’d have given him
Yourself
If that could make him know.
