A feller asked me th'other day,
"What line o' work YOU in?"
An' from the way he 'put' it,
I knew he'd ask ag'in.
So, I just up an' told him
How it is with me these days.
Quite proudly, I explained to him
My new, important ways.

"I git up ever' mornin'
(I'm ALWAYS up by noon);
Go out an' FIND the paper,
(Can't get the news too soon!)
At 'keepin' up; an' 'findin out',
I've truly grown adept;
(But noon is soon enough to learn
What went on as I slept.)

"When I've absorbed the news...ALL BAD
(The Planet's in a mess!)
For sure, don't miss the 'rat race'
An' traffic, I'll confess.
But gettin' to the question,
That first, you asked of me;
You'll see, at once, why my new job
I take so seriously.

"I locate parts, an' check out systems,
Each day when I arise;
I hunt for 'ears' an' 'teeth an' gums'
Then try to find my 'eyes';
Check out the ole blood pressure,
My sugar an' my heart;
An' if that feller's beatin' strong,
I know my day can start!"
